Mechanical Technician

Job Purpose

Mechanical Maintenance

• Carry out required daily mechanical maintenance work and routine preventative maintenance according to set schedules and procedures.
• Monitor the physical condition of all machines in the assigned plant and report non-conformances to the Mechanical Engineer or Supervisor.
• Respond to mechanical failures and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime and maximize equipment functionality.
• Troubleshoot using necessary tools and spare parts, including diagnosis, repair, and checking equipment for corrosion, cracks, leaks, and failures.
• Diagnose causes of mechanical malfunction or failure and take corrective measures such as defective parts replacement, adjustment, alignment, oiling, and greasing.
• Read and understand technical manuals, mechanical diagrams and machinery drawings to carry out maintenance and troubleshooting tasks.

Inventory and Documentation

• Check necessary stock levels of spare parts to support effective inventory control.
• Update the maintenance logbook and record details of work carried out including defaults, problems, findings and conditions of all machines.

Continuous Improvement and Compliance

• Contribute to identification and implementation of change initiatives, programmes and projects in line with organizational standards.
• Adhere to organizational and departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions.
• Adhere to health, safety, security and environmental procedures and controls.
• Perform any other duties required by the line manager.

Qualifications and Experience

• Technical certificate or Associate's Diploma in Mechanical maintenance.
• 3-5 years' experience in mechanical maintenance as a technician in installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and installations in a plant environment.

Skills

• Practical knowledge of relevant plant equipment.
• Practical knowledge of mechanical maintenance principles including identification, classification, disposal of waste and emission monitoring.
• Awareness of HSE and quality standards.
• Teamwork and effective collaboration skills.
