Role overview
Seeks an experienced mechanical professional with practical knowledge of heavy earthmoving machinery and mining operations.
The role focuses on machine performance, production, diesel consumption, maintenance, operating costs, and vendor management.
Machinery performance and productivity
- Monitor excavators, tippers, crawlers, breakers, crushers, and other heavy machinery.
- Set fuel-consumption benchmarks and calculate machine output, including hourly production, trips, and daily volume.
- Compare actual production with targets and analyse fuel consumption against output.
- Track working, idle, and breakdown hours, utilisation, and machine performance.
- Prepare performance reports and cost-per-hour or cost-per-unit analyses.
- Account for site conditions, material, lead distance, loading cycles, haul roads, and operator performance.
- Develop standard benchmarks for diesel, production, utilisation, and maintenance.
Coordination, vendors, and cost control
- Coordinate with operators, supervisors, mechanics, and site teams to improve performance and address recurring breakdowns.
- Maintain contacts with OEMs, spare-part suppliers, repair agencies, specialists, tyre vendors, and other equipment vendors.
- Obtain quotations, compare specifications, negotiate as required, and assess repair and maintenance costs.
- Support machine purchase, hiring, replacement, and repair decisions.
- Visit sites to verify machine performance and identify ways to reduce fuel, maintenance, downtime, and operating costs.
Candidate requirements
- At least 2 years of practical experience in mining, quarrying, crushing, infrastructure, or heavy earthmoving equipment operations.
- Strong mechanical understanding of excavators, tippers, crawlers, crushers, breakers, and related machinery.
- Practical knowledge of production calculations, diesel consumption, machine performance, and operating costs.
- Good knowledge of mining equipment vendors; existing vendor contacts are advantageous.
- Ability to use Excel/MIS reports and analyse operational data.
- Willingness to travel to mining and project sites; a practical problem-solving approach is expected.
Pay and benefits
- Pay is ₹25,000–₹30,000 per month.
