Join the team in Swadlincote to contribute to engineering projects across industrial and manufacturing environments.
Design machine guarding, mechanical structures, process pipework systems, factory layouts, and equipment skids.
Work with engineers, project teams, and clients to turn concepts into practical, compliant, efficient designs.
Key responsibilities
- Survey new and existing pipework systems and prepare accurate supporting documentation.
- Design machine guarding and produce 3D models for factory layouts, process skids, and mechanical installations using AutoCAD Inventor.
- Create factory layout plans and engineering drawings; revise designs for legislation, customer needs, and operational improvements.
- Prepare calculations, drawing packages, and project records; maintain drawing control and documentation standards.
- Liaise with clients and internal project, engineering, and production teams.
- Support machinery upgrades and promote safe working practices and quality.
Essential skills and experience
- Mechanical Engineering qualification such as BTEC, NVQ Level 3, HNC, HND, or equivalent.
- Strong mechanical design principles and engineering best-practice knowledge.
- Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Vault, and AutoCAD Inventor.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to interpret and produce detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Experience revising designs while maintaining drawing control standards.
- Organisational and analytical skills, attention to detail, independence, teamwork, and stakeholder communication.
Desirable knowledge
- Knowledge and application of BS EN ISO 14120, BS EN ISO 12100:2010, and BS EN ISO 13857:2008 machinery guarding standards is desirable.
