Mechanical Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Produce accurate and effective mechanical design solutions to support the development and delivery of new and existing products. Create, confirm and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, detailed drawings and associated engineering documentation. Ensure design solutions satisfy functional requirements, target specifications, manufacturability, build cost objectives and project timescales. Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), manufacturing data packs and product technical documentation. Administer Engineering Change Notes (ECNs), revision control activities and product configuration management processes. Deliver prototype assembly, testing, verification and validation activities throughout the product development lifecycle. Provide practical hands-on engineering support for prototype builds, product investigations and design evaluations. Contribute to the development and improvement of manufacturing, test and calibration methods, tooling and fixtures where required. Provide accurate task duration estimates and proactively identify technical, commercial and project risks. Liaise with suppliers and manufacturing partners to resolve technical issues and support product introduction and ongoing production activities. Maintain CAD libraries, templates and engineering documentation systems to support efficient and consistent design practices. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, maintaining effective communication and a positive, proactive approach to achieving project objectives. Manage assigned workloads effectively to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality engineering outputs. Identify opportunities to improve product designs, engineering processes and documentation practices, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with company procedures, engineering standards and the Quality Management System (QMS).
