The role provides technical leadership in mechanical engineering design and project management across the design and manufacture of ultrasonic arrays.
The engineer acts as the customer point of contact for designated projects and contributes to internal R&D.
Design and project delivery
- Manage mechanical designs from concept to final design review against customer requirements, controlling 3D CAD models and 2D drawings within the company QMS.
- Provide mechanical design approval and accurate Finite Element Analysis to check designs against functional and customer requirements.
- Generate detailed manufacturing drawings and Bills of Materials from CAD models.
- Liaise with customer engineering and design teams and provide project updates and timely feedback.
- Design bespoke tooling, create Manufacturing Instructions and QMS documentation, and support new product development.
- Assemble tooling and train production staff in its correct use, documenting and signing off training through the QMS.
- Improve production processes and drive internal prototype mechanical work to reduce risks against customer requirements.
- Manage formal project design reviews and provide technical support during development and production.
- Manage subcontractor output and commitments.
- Contribute to internal R&D as an initiator, project manager, and researcher; identify manufacturing process and technology improvements.
Role expectations
- Provide technical leadership in mechanical engineering design as part of a concurrent engineering team.
- Manage mechanical design projects and act as the customer point of contact for designated projects.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of current developments through academic and industrial literature.
- Comply with the Quality Management System and company Health and Safety procedures.
