Mechanical Design Engineer – Industrial Refrigeration

What You’ll Be Doing

• You’ll play a key role in the full design lifecycle, including:
• Leading mechanical and refrigeration design for:
• Industrial refrigeration (cold storage, food processing, bottling, distribution, oil & gas cooling/compression)
• Recreational refrigeration (snow parks, ice rinks, ice walls)
• Commercial refrigeration racks (reach‑ins, freezers, display cabinets)
• HVAC ventilation systems

• Producing and verifying system specifications, block flow diagrams, layouts, P&IDs, and design review packages.
• Performing detailed engineering calculations including heat load, HVAC, thermal analysis, pipe stress, vibration, seismic, and equipment support design.

• Managing BIM workflows in line with ISO 19650, BS 1192, PAS 1192‑5 and coordinating LOD/LOd requirements.
• Conducting clash detection, materials handling planning, BOQ/BOM development, and value engineering for IFC submissions.
• Selecting and approving equipment, coordinating with internal teams, and incorporating design review comments.
• Preparing O&M manuals and supporting sustainability, ERP, and lifecycle documentation.
• Providing guidance, checking work from other designers, and supporting the development of design standards.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.
• **5+ years’ experience**
• in mechanical or refrigeration design.
• Strong capability with
• Revit MEP, Navisworks, AutoCAD, BIM 360, and Microsoft Office
• .
• Deep understanding of refrigeration design, heat transfer, and equipment function.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical plans with precision.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
