Full Job Posting

Responsibilities:

  • Own material availability to the production line: review stock levels and shortage risk against the current production schedule, and expedite critical shortages.
  • Lead and develop the buyers, inventory control analyst, and warehouse supervisor; set priorities, review performance, and hold each role accountable for flagging risk early.
  • Set safety stock, reorder, and inventory policies, and review cycle-count exceptions and inventory accuracy.
  • Coordinate with production planning so material plans reflect the build schedule, and with the procurement manager on lead times and minimum order quantities.
  • Plan warehouse capacity and floor space, and review capacity decisions with the director of operations.
  • Standardize inventory, purchasing, and warehouse processes and metrics across two factories, and run the weekly cross-factory syncs.
  • Escalate any shortage likely to affect a customer commitment to the supply chain director, sales, and the affected plant the same day it is identified.
  • Own the materials budget, including carrying cost and expedite spend.
  • Deliverables and measures:
  • Success is judged on inventory turns, fill rate to the line, inventory accuracy, and carrying cost. Turns and fill rate pull against each other, so the role is about finding the right balance for the business.
  • Deliverable
  • Inventory turns and aging report
  • How it is measured
  • Inventory turns vs. target; aged stock as % of value
  • Stockout and excess inventory report
  • Stockouts reaching the line; excess as % of inventory value
  • Weekly material-availability report to production
  • Fill rate to the production line
  • Warehouse capacity plan
  • Storage utilization; no unplanned overflow
  • Materials budget
  • Carrying cost and expedite spend vs. budget
  • Accurate inventory records
  • Inventory accuracy (system vs. physical count)
  • Working relationships
  • Reports to supply chain director, with a dotted-line relationship to the director of operations on warehouse capacity and floor-space decisions.
  • Direct reports: buyers, inventory control analyst, warehouse supervisor.
  • Peer: procurement manager, through a weekly joint sync and ongoing coordination on lead times, order quantities, and safety stock.
  • Works closely with: production planners and plant production leadership on the build schedule and material needs.
  • Cross-business: sales and finance, through monthly S&OP and same-day shortage alerts.
  • Qualifications Required:
  • 5+ years of materials, inventory, or warehouse experience in a manufacturing environment, including 2+ years leading a team.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, inventory control methods, and cycle counting.
  • Strong analytical skills; comfortable with inventory turns, carrying cost, and fill-rate metrics.
  • Clear communication with plant leadership, suppliers, and cross-functional partners.
  • Proven ability to hold a team accountable and escalate risk early.
  • Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, operations, business, or a related field.
  • APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP).
  • Experience managing materials across more than one plant, including standardizing processes between sites.
  • Experience with lean inventory practices and S&OP.

Benefits:

  • Competitive Salary
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans
  • Generous vacation and paid time off
  • 401K retirement savings plan with employer matching
