Position overview

Market operations and analytics

• Build and maintain algorithmic hedging strategies for physical battery storage operations and maximize portfolio value.
• Build automated power-market bidding and trading strategies using Python and SQL; champion features that improve P&L.
• Support daily asset management through bid submissions, code debugging, and on-call duties.
• Improve electricity-price forecasts, bidding and hedging models; develop and assess models to improve P&L.
• Analyze large datasets in MS SQL Server and collaborate with developers on analytics infrastructure.
• Identify reporting and dashboard gaps and build Power BI dashboards that inform market decisions.
• Support day-to-day power-market operations, troubleshoot real-time issues, model battery storage operation, and report trading-strategy performance.
• Manage analytical and coding projects from ideation through final deliverables with limited oversight.

Experience and qualifications

• At least three years of energy-industry or analytical experience; IPP or utility experience with physical-operations hedging is preferred.
• Strong understanding of daily energy-market operations across multiple jurisdictions.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, math, economics, computer science, chemistry, physics, finance, business, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• Programming experience in Python or another mathematical programming language.
• Exposure to mathematical optimization and experience with large datasets are pluses.
• Interest in clean energy and power markets; self-motivation, organization, and time-management skills.

Workplace and physical requirements

• Position is remote and requires up to 15% travel.
• Work involves prolonged periods sitting at a desk and using a computer.
