Marine Risks (Insurance & Claims) Officer – Shipping & Logistics
About This Role
EGR Holding LLC in Abu Dhabi is urgently looking for “Marine Risks (Insurance & Claims) Officer – Shipping & Logistics”. To oversee marine insurance coverage and manage claims related to cargo transportation, freight forwarding, and logistics operations. This role ensures that all shipments are adequately insured, risks are minimized across the supply chain, and claims are handled efficiently to reduce financial exposure.
Roles and Responsibilities (not limited to):
1. Marine Insurance Management
· Arrange and manage marine cargo insurance for import/export shipments (sea, air, multimodal).
· Coordinate with insurance brokers and underwriters for policy placement, renewals, and endorsements.
· Review insurance clauses related to freight forwarding, warehousing, and transit risks.
· Ensure coverage aligns with shipment terms (e.g., FOB, CIF, EXW).
2. Logistics Risk Assessment
· Identify risks across the logistics chain (port handling, inland transport, storage, transshipment).
· Assess high-risk cargo (fragile, perishable, hazardous, high-value goods).
· Recommend insurance coverage and risk mitigation strategies for clients and internal teams.
· Monitor risk exposure across trade routes and geopolitical regions.
3. Claims Handling & Recovery
· Handle end-to-end claims for cargo loss, damage, theft, or delay.
· Liaise with surveyors, shipping lines, insurers, and agents for claim investigations.
· Verify shipping documents (Bill of Lading, Packing List, Commercial Invoice, Survey Reports).
· Ensure timely claim submission and follow-up for settlements.
· Pursue recovery from carriers, subcontractors, or third parties where applicable.
4. Contract & Liability Management
· Review contracts with clients, carriers, and vendors to identify liability exposure.
· Ensure alignment with standard trading conditions (e.g., freight forwarder liability limits).
· Advise internal stakeholders on insurance implications of logistics contracts.
5. Compliance & Documentation
· Maintain records of policies, claims, and correspondence.
· Ensure compliance with international marine insurance standards and local regulations.
· Prepare periodic reports on claims trends, loss ratios, and operational risks.
6. Stakeholder Coordination
· Work closely with operations, customer service, and sales teams to ensure proper insurance coverage for shipments.
· Advise clients on insurance options and claims procedures.
· Coordinate with ports, warehouses, and transport providers when incidents occur.
Skills & Competencies
· Strong knowledge of marine cargo insurance and freight forwarding operations
· Good understanding of Incoterms (FOB, CIF, DDP, etc.)
· Familiarity with shipping documentation and claims evidence
· Analytical and problem-solving skills
· Negotiation and recovery expertise
· Strong communication and coordination skills
· Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
Qualifications & Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Maritime Studies, Insurance, Risk Management, or related field.
· 3–6 years of experience in marine cargo insurance or logistics claims handling.
· Experience within a freight forwarding or shipping company is highly preferred.
