Role overview

Compensation and employment

• Pay is $22.35, $23.34, or $25.06 per hour based on experience.
• This is a full-time permanent position.
• Overtime opportunities are available.

Duties and responsibilities

• Load and control the operation of melt furnaces.
• Alloy metals as required.
• Set up and preheat casting moulds and inserts.
• Pour molten metal into casting moulds.
• Skim castings and furnaces to minimize dross and slag.
• Stamp lot numbers into castings.
• Remove castings from moulds.
• Package castings as required.
• Fabricate inserts by cutting and pressing.
• Maintain a clean work area.

Safety

• Follow CMP safety rules and guidelines.
• Promote safe work practices under Worksafe B.C. regulations.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment according to the task performed.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience in melt furnace operation, mixed-metal operation, or a similar role.
• At least one year of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• At least one year of experience using hand and power tools.
• Comfort working in hot and labour-intensive conditions while standing, performing repetitive tasks, and lifting without restrictions.
• Completed Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Ability to adapt and work different shifts.
• Basic Excel, Word, and Outlook skills with good dexterity.
• Valid forklift operator licence is an asset.
• Occupational First Aid Attendant certification is an asset, or the willingness to obtain it and complete additional training.

Schedule

• Monday to Friday day shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
