Position summary

Job delivery and manufacturing engineering

  • Lead new and repeat jobs from quote handoff through first article inspection and into steady production.
  • Review customer drawings and specifications and plan processes, routing, and inspection points.
  • Create in-process drawings, setup sheets, and work instructions and ensure the shop uses the latest approved revision.
  • Support CNC programmers with machining strategy, program review, and prove-out; programmers own the programs.
  • Direct fixturing, work-holding, and cutting-tool strategy to improve cycle time and repeatability.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing and the Tool Room to prepare tools, fixtures, and special tooling before job start.

Scheduling, customers, and quality

  • Build and track job schedules, costs, and risks and align Production, Quality, and Purchasing.
  • Serve as the customer’s technical contact for drawing questions, revisions, deviations, and status updates.
  • Support Estimating with process plans, cost estimates, and lead-time estimates.
  • Coordinate with Sales on delivery commitments and communicate schedule changes and shipping updates to customers.
  • Work with Quality on first article inspections and corrective actions and solve shop-floor process problems.
  • Mentor junior staff and promote a strong safety culture.

Required qualifications

  • Seven to ten years in machining, fabrication, or heavy industrial manufacturing, including three to five or more years in manufacturing engineering, project management, customer-facing, or supervisory work.
  • Strong working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and blueprint reading.
  • Familiarity with cutting tools, including tool and insert selection, speeds and feeds, and tool life.
  • Solid knowledge of CNC machining, fabrication, fixturing, and job shop workflows.
  • Experience with production scheduling, job costing, and quality and inspection requirements.
  • Clear communicator able to manage several jobs and priorities at once.
  • Working knowledge of the Ontario OHSA and shop safety practices.

Assets

  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or Technology; P.Eng., EIT, or C.E.T. credentials.

  • Experience with ERP/MRP software such as Epicor, JobBoss, or Abas.
  • Oil and gas or power generation experience, including API and ASME specifications.
