Role and project

Support a client launching an electric drive unit manufacturing line in Saudi Arabia, including e-motor and inverter through integrated e-drive assembly and end-of-line testing.

The role covers equipment installation and commissioning, process qualification, run-at-rate, PPAP, SOP, and ramp-up to full-volume production.

Several process engineers are being recruited. Candidates will own a process area—stator, rotor, motor assembly and test, gearbox, or inverter and power electronics—or an end-to-end value stream.

Location and assignment

  • The project is based in Saudi Arabia from September 2026 through December 2027; relocation and residence in KSA are required.
  • The assignment is full-time and 100% onsite at the client manufacturing facility; it is not remote, hybrid, fly-in/fly-out, or rotational.
  • Work includes production areas, dry rooms, and cleanrooms with PPE and gowning. Flexible hours and periodic shift or weekend support are expected during launch phases.
  • No routine travel to equipment suppliers, partner plants, or R&D sites is currently anticipated. Work authorization requirements depend on eligibility and project requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Own process definition, process flow, cycle-time allocation, parameter windows, control plans, PFMEA, work instructions, and change control.
  • Lead equipment commissioning, SAT, capability studies, qualification runs, and DOE; deliver APQP and PPAP.
  • Balance stations to takt, eliminate bottlenecks, and drive ramp-up using scrap, rework, yield, and downtime data.
  • Lead production problem-solving and technical escalations; make containment decisions with Production and Quality.
  • Design and validate error-proofing, in-line verification, torque and force-displacement monitoring, and traceability.
  • Build process data foundations using SPC, MES, traceability systems, and statistical monitoring.
  • Support customer and supplier interfaces, sequenced JIT/JIS delivery, supplier PPAP, and supplier problem-solving.
  • Contribute to safety and compliance for high-voltage work, magnets, press and laser safety, chemicals, adhesives, ergonomics, and EHS risk assessments.
  • Train and coach production technicians and operators on process fundamentals, troubleshooting, and reaction plans.

Required qualifications

  • MSc or equivalent engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, Manufacturing, Materials, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5–10 years of process engineering in high-volume manufacturing; automotive powertrain/components, electric motors, electronics, or comparable takt-driven assembly is ideal.
  • Hands-on production-floor experience with direct ownership of a manufacturing process at rate.
  • Strong knowledge of takt-based manufacturing, cycle-time analysis, line balancing, OEE, bottleneck analysis, and downtime reduction.
  • Practical SPC, DOE, MSA/Gage R&R, and capability analysis experience, using tools such as Minitab, JMP, Python, or R.
  • Strong command of PFMEA, control plans, 8D, root-cause analysis, APQP, and PPAP.
  • Ability to work with MES, SCADA, historians, traceability systems, and test databases.
  • Strong written and verbal English and ability to defend technical positions with management, customers, and suppliers.
  • Willing and able to relocate to and reside in Saudi Arabia for the full project duration and work onsite.

Preferred qualifications

  • Direct electric motor, e-axle, or power electronics manufacturing experience; greenfield launch or major capacity ramp experience.
  • IATF 16949, customer-specific requirements, and customer audit experience; vehicle assembly plant JIT/JIS delivery experience.
  • E-drive joining expertise such as laser welding, ultrasonic or wire bonding, sintering, press-fit, or interference joining.
  • Technical cleanliness under ISO 16232 / VDA 19 and ESD control; high-voltage certification or qualification.
  • Lean or Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt; experience with automation, robotics, and vision systems.
  • International or Middle East experience is beneficial but not required.

Working style and success measures

Work effectively with ambiguity and incomplete data, prioritize production-floor observation and evidence, and maintain rigorous documentation and change control.

Collaborate across functions and cultures and defend technical positions under pressure as part of an international team.

Success includes process qualification, run-at-rate, approved PPAP, cycle time within takt, OEE meeting the ramp plan, and first-pass yield following the ramp curve.

Success also includes no customer line stoppages attributable to the process, verified root causes and permanent countermeasures, current process documentation, and capable operators.

What the employer offers

  • Competitive salary or package plus a completion bonus.
  • Opportunity to contribute to an international greenfield manufacturing launch from installation through SOP and full-rate production.
  • Structured training on technology and process methods, with exposure to the full manufacturing value stream.
  • Opportunity to work with an international client and cross-functional engineering teams.
