Role overview

The Digital Asset Risk & Compliance team seeks a Manager, Risk Management to provide second-line expertise for BVNK’s integration into Mastercard and development of the risk function.

The role ensures financial risks are understood, measured, monitored, and governed within Mastercard’s risk appetite.

Credit risk oversight and challenge

  • Oversee and challenge BVNK credit, settlement, counterparty, collateral, and related digital-asset financial risk exposures.
  • Review exposure assessments, risk ratings, portfolio metrics, credit limit usage, and reporting against policy, appetite, and thresholds.
  • Challenge first-line controls for intraday and prefunding settlement exposure, liquidity providers, banking partners, and credit mitigants.
  • Escalate material issues, breaches, deteriorating exposures, and emerging risks to senior leaders and governance forums.

Portfolio monitoring and risk appetite

  • Monitor exposure trends, portfolio performance, concentrations, limit utilization, and key risk indicators against approved thresholds.
  • Identify emerging risks, adverse trends, and control gaps before they escalate.
  • Support risk ratings, counterparty scoring, stress testing, expected loss analysis, and ongoing portfolio monitoring.
  • Escalate threshold breaches, policy exceptions, risk acceptance requests, and material risk deterioration through established governance.

Governance and integration

  • Support financial risk frameworks, governance, reporting, and operating routines for the Digital Asset Risk & Compliance function.
  • Translate Mastercard financial risk policies into requirements, controls, and evidence standards for BVNK integration.
  • Align risk ownership, oversight, escalation, and decision-making across Mastercard and BVNK stakeholders.
  • Prepare decision-oriented materials for management, committees, integration governance, audit, and regulatory reviews.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation of assumptions, decisions, exceptions, dependencies, issues, ownership, and remediation actions.

Qualifications

  • Experience across credit, counterparty, settlement, liquidity, and collateral risk.
  • Ability to apply financial risk principles to digital assets, stablecoins, tokenized settlement, prefunding, and banking partner exposures.
  • Experience in banking, payments, fintech, digital assets, or another regulated financial services environment.
  • Working knowledge of exposure measurement, risk ratings, limits, stress testing, expected loss, and portfolio monitoring.
  • Strong understanding of second-line oversight, independent challenge, risk appetite, and escalation.
  • Able to translate policy into practical controls, monitoring, governance, and reporting.
  • Strong analytical judgment, structured thinking, and clear communication; able to build trusted partnerships while maintaining risk discipline.
