Manager Metallurgy
- KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Leading a team of professional and technical staff to support the future growth profile of the company. This will predominantly involve maximizing operational efficiencies in refractory, CIL, floatation, and heap leach precious metal processing.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) based on best practice processing performance indicators including throughput rates, gold recovery and overall process efficiency for use in study development. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize study developments.
- Lead the application of new technologies and apply innovative solutions and technological developments to improve the value of future projects. Implement opportunities to increase competitive advantages and align them with the organization's overall strategy.
- Coaching and mentoring metallurgical department personnel.
- Ensuring compliance with company and site-specific policies, standards, procedures, and objectives and recommend new policies or procedures, if necessary.
- Overseeing annual budget preparation and management of departmental costs
- Sourcing and retaining high quality metallurgical personnel, and ensuring that the team receives appropriate training, mentoring, knowledge transfer and performance management reviews
- Support technical expertise in Metallurgy and Processing Engineering at an affiliate and functional level to enable Maaden policies, standards, and procedures to be met effectively.
- Provide input into the formulation, improvement, and measure effectiveness of the Maaden policies, standards, and procedures.
- Support in interpretation of the Maaden standards and support affiliates in the development and improvement of local systems and support the Corporate Subject Matter Expert team
- Provide support in relation to technical communications (Metallurgy and Processing Engineering) that are aligned with Maaden policies and programs. Communications will include incident briefings, programs, initiatives, periodic updates, all through multi-channel methods.
- Perform all additional duties assigned.
- Lead metallurgical support relating to processing deliverables to support future growth requirements.
- Establish standard and governance in Technical Services group for study and project development.
- Maintain departmental cost within range of ±5%.
- Deliver development plan for high potential talent in metallurgy group.
- Provide and support continuous improvement project.
- Supporting EHSS program of Maaden in KPI and details program deliverables
- COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Metallurgy Manager role requires frequent communication within technical and operations teams for all matters related to Metallurgy and Process Engineering. Communication will also be required with external consultants and also with internal Strategic Business Unit (SBU) and Project team to support company growth. Periodic site visits will be required to support existing operations.
- JOB RELEVANT INFORMATION (BOUNDARIES & DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY):
- As technical services functional leader, Metallurgy Manager position shall be the champion of change for improvement in all aspects of metal processing but not limited to existing operation and growth study.
- This position is responsible to deliver in quality and timely manner resources model with consultation with other functional within technical services, Operational leadership and Corporate.
• Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical, Minerals/Chemical Engineering.
- Study and Project management experience.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in metallurgical operations, engineering, and laboratory environment related to gold and base metal extraction processes.
- Knowledge of metallurgical requirements of for all study and project phases with respect to test work and process deliverable requirements.
- Experience with plant control systems and use of data historian trends for operating and reporting.
- Ability to present to and collaborate with corporate executives and the site Senior Leadership Team required
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access) required
- Knowledge in Safety and Environmental requirements.
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
