Manager - Mechanical (Hybrid)

Role overview

Role responsibilities

• Lead a moderately sized mechanical engineering team and provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development.
• Drive New Product Introduction from concept through engineering release.
• Oversee design, development, DFMA evaluation, validation, and release against safety, quality, cost, and performance objectives.
• Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets and deliver within schedule and budget.
• Collaborate with Bangalore operations and cross-functional mechanical, electrical, optical, software, drafting, manufacturing, operations, and project teams.
• Ensure quality assurance and quality control processes are followed; manage technical issues, conflicts, and scope changes.
• Drive continuous improvement in products and processes and apply Lean tools.
• Maintain customer and stakeholder relationships, prepare reports and project updates, and support business opportunities.
• Hire, train, mentor, and retain team members; provide technical leadership and guidance.

Basic qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering and 12 or more years of relevant experience.
• Sound knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
• Knowledge of aerospace standard DO-160.
• Exposure to CATIA, MBD, or Teamcenter tools.
• Good experience in DFMA, GD&T, and stack-up analysis.

Leadership and additional skills

• Leadership competencies include analytical and problem-solving ability, collaboration, prioritization, delegation, ownership, attention to detail, judgment, and communication.
• Knowledge and exposure to AI/ML in engineering design, automation, analytics, or digital transformation is an added advantage.
