Role overview

Location and working arrangements

• The role is based around Southampton and requires work at traffic signal and highways system sites.
• Out-of-hours work and participation in an on-call rota are required to support service and installation needs.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve faults on traffic signal assets and other equipment covered by the maintenance contract.
• Complete reactive and proactive maintenance, inspections, electrical testing, installations and remedial works.
• Create accurate clearance notes in the Fault Management System and support site surveys and customer visits.
• Use tools and equipment safely and complete work to contract response times, schedules and specifications.
• Support customers, contractors, team development and a positive health and safety culture.

Qualifications and experience

• Four GCSEs including Mathematics and English, relevant technical qualifications, or equivalent electrical engineering experience.
• Meet the relevant Highway Electrical Registrations Scheme occupation requirements and work toward or complete the associated NVQ level.
• Complete mandatory National Highway Sector Scheme, product and equipment training.
• Traffic signals or highways industry experience is preferred but not essential.
• Reliability, initiative, flexibility, accuracy, teamwork and a strong safety-focused approach are required.
