Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 5 or more years of recent verifiable work experience as a machinist. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of dimensional inspection/calibration practices, procedures, and their applications. Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T). Experience and familiarity with ASME Y14.5. Experience with dimensional and torque calibrations. Experience and familiarity with ISO 17025. Completion of a certified machinist apprenticeship. Knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, layout techniques and shop safety. General computer. Ability to work and coordinate effectively with others and maintain positive working. Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, take time to understand the points being made and ask questions as appropriate. Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. The ability to work effectively with others and maintain positive working. Special Requirements: Work involves various physical requirements and working conditions. As such, a pre-hire physical will be required after offer. This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
