Logistics Manager

Role overview

Operations and distribution

• Oversee transportation, warehousing, distribution, order fulfillment, and shipment coordination.
• Manage transportation schedules, routes, shipment arrangements, delivery schedules, and resource allocation.
• Monitor inventory levels, stock movements, warehouse activity, and inventory records.
• Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping companies, customs brokers, and other logistics partners.
• Collaborate with procurement, sales, customer service, finance, and warehouse teams on supply-chain activities.

Performance, cost, and service

• Develop strategies to improve operational efficiency, service quality, and cost effectiveness.
• Set and monitor KPIs including delivery accuracy, on-time delivery, transportation costs, and warehouse efficiency.
• Analyze performance data, identify inefficiencies, and implement continuous improvements.
• Manage logistics budgets and expenses, and pursue cost savings without compromising service quality.
• Manage service-provider relationships and negotiate agreements, rates, and delivery terms.

Compliance and team leadership

• Ensure shipments are documented and comply with transportation, customs, import, export, and trade regulations.
• Maintain shipping documents, delivery orders, invoices, inventory reports, and other logistics records.
• Lead, supervise, and train logistics personnel, and establish SOPs for transport, warehousing, shipment handling, and inventory control.
• Investigate delays, damaged or lost shipments, and customer complaints, and implement corrective actions.
• Identify supply-chain disruptions and risks, develop contingency plans, and ensure workplace safety and policy compliance.
• Evaluate logistics systems and technologies for shipment tracking, inventory visibility, reporting, and coordination.
• Prepare performance reports, cost analyses, and operational updates for senior management.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Logistics Manager, Supply Chain Manager, Transportation Manager, or in a similar logistics role.
• A bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of logistics operations, transportation planning, warehouse management, inventory control, and distribution.
• Demonstrated experience managing logistics teams, coordinating shipments, and overseeing operations.
• Strong planning, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of shipping documents, freight management, customs procedures, and import/export requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools; ERP, WMS, and TMS familiarity is advantageous.
• Knowledge of cost structures, budgets, KPIs, continuous improvement, supply-chain risk, and relevant health and safety requirements.
• Experience with logistics providers, international logistics, cross-border transport, e-commerce fulfillment, or 3PL operations is advantageous.
• Relevant logistics, supply-chain, or transportation certifications are advantageous.
