Logistics Manager

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Develop logistics strategies and oversee transportation, warehousing, distribution, inventory movement, and delivery operations.
• Plan inbound and outbound shipments; manage routes, schedules, fleet coordination, and logistics providers.
• Optimize routes, transportation costs, lead times, and logistics efficiency; negotiate provider rates, agreements, and delivery terms.
• Oversee warehouse receiving, storage, picking, packing, dispatch, and inventory movement; coordinate stock transfers across locations.
• Coordinate with internal departments and ensure appropriate product handling, storage, packaging, and transportation.
• Monitor shipments and resolve delays, transport issues, damaged goods, shortages, and other problems.
• Develop procedures, processes, and controls; monitor KPIs, analyze performance, identify improvements, and implement corrective actions.
• Manage budgets and operational costs, identify savings, and maintain service quality and reliability.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, transport regulations, safety requirements, customs procedures, and industry standards.
• Coordinate import/export shipments, documentation, permits, and clearance when required; maintain logistics records and prepare reports and recommendations.
• Lead, coach, train, and develop logistics, warehouse, and transportation team members; conduct performance reviews.
• Keep up to date with logistics technology, transportation trends, supply-chain practices, and industry best practices.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Logistics Manager, Logistics Executive, Supply Chain Manager, Warehouse Manager, or related logistics professional.
• Strong knowledge of logistics, transportation, warehousing, distribution, supply-chain processes, shipment planning, scheduling, route optimization, and inventory movement.
• Experience managing logistics teams, warehouse operations, transportation providers, and external partners.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, communication, coordination, negotiation, stakeholder-management, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to analyze KPIs, operational data, costs, and performance reports and drive continuous improvement.
• Strong understanding of logistics cost control, budgeting, and operational efficiency.
• Experience negotiating with logistics providers, transport companies, freight forwarders, and other suppliers is preferred.
• ERP, WMS, TMS, or other logistics software experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and relevant logistics management tools.
• Knowledge of import/export procedures, customs, shipping documentation, and international logistics is an advantage.
• A degree or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Professional logistics or supply-chain certifications are an advantage.
