Role overview

Operations and transportation

• Oversee transportation, warehousing, distribution, order fulfillment, and shipment coordination.
• Develop logistics strategies to improve efficiency, service quality, and cost effectiveness.
• Manage transport schedules, routes, shipment arrangements, and distribution for timely deliveries.
• Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping companies, customs brokers, and logistics partners.
• Monitor inventory, stock movements, and warehouse activity; maintain accurate records and prevent discrepancies.
• Optimize routes, delivery schedules, and resources to improve productivity and reduce transport costs.

Performance, compliance, and leadership

• Set and monitor KPIs for delivery accuracy, on-time delivery, transportation costs, and warehouse efficiency; analyze performance data for improvements.
• Manage provider relationships and negotiate service agreements, rates, and delivery terms.
• Ensure shipment documentation meets transport, customs, import, export, and trade requirements; maintain shipping and inventory records.
• Manage budgets, monitor expenses, and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising service quality.
• Identify supply chain disruptions and develop contingency plans.
• Lead and train logistics personnel; establish SOPs for transportation, warehouse management, shipment handling, and inventory control.
• Investigate delays, damaged or lost goods, and customer complaints; implement corrective actions.
• Evaluate logistics systems and technologies for tracking, inventory visibility, reporting, and coordination.
• Prepare performance reports, cost analyses, and operational updates for senior management.
• Ensure safety, company policy, and applicable transport and logistics compliance; collaborate with internal teams and external partners.

Experience and logistics knowledge

• Proven experience as a Logistics Manager, Supply Chain Manager, Transportation Manager, or in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of logistics operations, transportation planning, warehouse management, inventory control, and distribution.
• Demonstrated experience managing teams, coordinating shipments, and overseeing daily operations.
• Strong knowledge of shipping documentation, freight management, customs procedures, and import/export requirements.
• Strong understanding of logistics cost structures, budget management, and cost optimization.
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements for transportation, warehousing, and goods handling.

Education and skills

• A bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; ability to manage competing shipments, priorities, and deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools for performance analysis and cost monitoring.
• Familiarity with ERP, WMS, and TMS systems is advantageous.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities; high attention to detail and customer focus.

Additional advantageous experience

• Experience with freight forwarders, transport companies, warehouse operators, and 3PL providers is advantageous.
• International logistics, cross-border transport, e-commerce fulfillment, 3PL experience, and relevant professional certifications are advantageous.
