Job Descriptions
We need to be a Linux/DevOps Engineer/Lead to join our Infrastructure team. we need someone who has depth in Linux system administration from financial services, preferably has led/managed within such an area.
In addition, the ideal candidate also has DevOps experience building CICD pipelines and experience of AWS + Azure (strong preference on AWS if only one).
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and maintain the long‑term roadmap, architectural strategy, and modernization initiatives for the Linux environment.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a high‑performing Linux Engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Establish governance, standards, and best practices for system configuration, patching, security hardening, change control, documentation, and automation.
- Manage budgets, licensing, vendor relationships, and procurement for Linux‑related technologies.
Operational Excellence and Infrastructure Management
- Lead the support, administration, and maintenance of all Linux servers, both physical and virtual, across the infrastructure.
- Install, configure, and maintain infrastructure components in virtualized and on‑premises Linux environments.
- Plan and execute operating system upgrades, application migrations, kernel updates, and hardware refresh programs.
- Fully manage the installation, configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting of Linux systems in hybrid environments that include on‑premises infrastructure and cloud platforms.
- Provide mission support in both classified and unclassified Linux desktop and server environments.
- Ensure system stability, uptime, and performance through proactive monitoring, tuning, capacity planning, and preventive maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with internal security policies, regulatory requirements, and Linux hardening standards.
- Architecture and Engineering
- Manage the architectural design and operational framework for the enterprise Linux environment.
- Develop and maintain system‑level tools, utilities, and automations using shell scripting (Bash) and Python.
- Design and support high‑frequency trading (HFT) and low‑latency Linux infrastructure components with emphasis on performance and reliability.
- Drive adoption of automation and Infrastructure‑as‑Code using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and other configuration management solutions.
- Lead integration and migration of workloads into cloud and hybrid environments.
- Oversee system‑level improvements, tuning, module integration, and performance optimization.
Performance, Reliability, and Testing
- Analyze Linux systems, conduct performance benchmarking, and perform usability and stress testing to ensure platform health and compliance with performance, scalability, and security expectations.
- Ensure environments supporting trading systems meet low‑latency, high‑availability, and deterministic performance requirements.
Troubleshooting, Incident Management, and Support
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of failures, incidents, and critical alerts across the Linux server estate.
- Act as the highest‑level escalation point for complex issues affecting production, pre‑production, and development environments.
- Drive root cause analysis and implement long‑term corrective actions.
- Provide high‑quality support to internal partners with a focus on resilience, operational excellence, and reliability.
Scripting, Automation, and Tools
- Write, maintain, and troubleshoot shell scripts and Python scripts for automation, orchestration, and system efficiency.
- Enhance automation for patching, deployments, configuration, and monitoring.
