The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse with advanced training as a physician extender.
The Nurse Practitioner works in collaboration with a physician to provide medical services within protocols established by the supervising physician.
Such medical services may include history and physical exams, treatment of specific illnesses or injuries, both chronic and acute.
The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner may perform other services that have traditionally been reserved for physicians.
