Licensed Funeral Director/Care Advisor
Full Job Posting
The role
Our Funeral Director role primarily supports families who are planning ahead. You will follow up with families who have expressed interest or asked for more information. Your role is to respond quickly, listen well, explain soil transformation clearly, and gently help the family decide whether Earth is right for them. This is a quota-carrying role with clear monthly targets, and you will know exactly where you stand every day.
You can expect to be assigned 1000+ families per month, and your role is focused on managing all relationships and associated tasks with those families. This is a fast-paced, fulfilling role centered on responsive, compassionate care.
What you’ll do
Respond to families who reach out and manage pre-need family consultations. Guide families planning ahead through consultative conversations and process prepaid arrangements via our partner, Homesteaders.
Conduct phone and video consultations. Present clearly and empathetically to individuals and groups of family members simultaneously.
Provide transparent, consultative guidance. Focus on clear information and family alignment without upselling or transactional pressures.
Enroll families in funeral funding plans. Primarily assist families in securing pre-need arrangements using life insurance (company-funded licensing provided during your first year). You would also help with imminent and immediate arrangements that sign up with us directly.
Collaborate on team performance goals. Support peers to drive collective success, with a meaningful portion of compensation tied to overall team bookings.
Maintain high-volume pipeline management. Prioritize and manage an active queue of 1,000+ monthly leads, balancing rapid response times and consistent follow-up.
Execute defined sales processes consistently. Follow structured communication frameworks and messaging guidelines to ensure reliable, high-quality family experiences.
Engage in data-driven coaching and growth. Participate in daily metric reviews, call transcript analysis, and coaching sessions to continuously refine your practice.
Participate in scheduled shift rotations. Cover family support needs across scheduled evening, weekend, and holiday shifts published in advance.
Utilize sales technology independently. Work fluidly across CRM (HubSpot), softphone dialers, Slack, and Google Workspace, maintaining high data accuracy and troubleshooting basic technical tools.
Completing enrollment accurately , including contracts, payment plan or funding setup, and state-specific disclosure documents.
Create and execute all assigned follow up tasks for families in the queue.
What you won’t do
This is not a customer service role, and it is not a licensed-practice role. Earth has a separate, small in-house care team of funeral directors who care for at-need and imminent-need families at our facilities. This role does not do removals, embalming, preparation, viewings, or service direction. You will not be practicing under your license, and this role does not put you on a path back into facility-based directing.
This role is built for the director who is energized by guiding families through the decision and is ready to leave the hands-on work behind.
What you'll need
An active funeral director license and a mortuary school certificate.
Experience guiding families through arrangement conversations — pre-need, at-need, or both.
Genuine comfort with software: CRM, dialer, calendar, video calls, and shared documentation, without hand-holding.
Strong reading comprehension, and the ability to learn quickly and independently from written process docs.
Confidence on video calls with multiple family members at once, with a professional audio and video setup.
A dedicated, quiet, private workspace and reliable high-speed internet.
Availability for rotating evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
Great to have
Pre-need or family-services experience specifically.
A current life insurance license (not required to start — we fund and support getting one).
Quota-carrying or high-volume call experience.
A genuine interest in conservation and sustainable alternatives to conventional death care.
Interview process
We move quickly and we will keep you informed at every step. Expect roughly two to three weeks start to finish. The process includes a recruiter screening, a mock family consultation, a technology assessment, and a leadership interview.
