Legal & Regulatory Advisory Specialist

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and reviewing regulatory applications, submissions, and licensing documentation for regulated entities.
• Draft and review legal agreements, policies, procedures, governance documents, and regulatory correspondence.
• Support clients with regulatory compliance obligations, including AML/CFT, sanctions, data protection, and corporate governance requirements.
• Review and analyse business plans, financial models, operational frameworks, and risk assessments from a regulatory perspective.
• Conduct legal and regulatory research relating to virtual assets, payments, fintech, banking, and financial services.
• Assist with regulatory inspections, audits, remediation projects, and responses to regulatory enquiries.
• Prepare client memoranda, legal opinions, briefing papers, and advisory reports.
• Participate in meetings with clients, regulators, financial institutions, and external advisers.
• Monitor regulatory developments and provide practical guidance to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Support business development initiatives by contributing to proposals, presentations, and client onboarding.

& Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Law, Compliance, Finance, or a related discipline.
• 3–7 years of relevant experience in a law firm, regulatory consultancy, financial institution, fintech company, or compliance advisory practice.
• Strong understanding of regulated financial services environments.
• Familiarity with VARA, ADGM, DFSA, FSRA, Central Bank regulations, or equivalent international regulatory frameworks.
• Working knowledge of AML/CFT requirements, sanctions compliance, corporate governance, and risk management principles.
• Experience reviewing business plans, risk frameworks, and compliance programmes.
• Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Fluent English required; Arabic is an advantage.

Preferred Experience

• Fintech, payments, EMI, PSP, digital banking, or virtual asset projects.
• Regulatory licensing applications and authorisation processes.
• Policy drafting and compliance framework development.
• Regulatory engagement and stakeholder management.
