As our business continues to grow and expand, we are seeking an experienced and strategic **Legal Counsel** to provide expert legal guidance, manage risk, and support the company's commercial and operational objectives.

Position Overview

The Legal Counsel will serve as the company's primary legal advisor, overseeing all legal affairs related to corporate governance, commercial transactions, regulatory compliance, contracts, employment matters, and dispute resolution.

This role will work closely with executive leadership and operational teams to protect company interests and ensure compliance within the highly regulated petroleum and energy industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage commercial contracts, service agreements, procurement contracts, subcontractor agreements, joint venture agreements, and supplier contracts
  • Provide legal advice on corporate, commercial, regulatory, employment, and operational matters
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, industry standards, and licensing requirements within the energy and petroleum sectors
  • Advise management on legal risks associated with business transactions, projects, and strategic initiatives
  • Support corporate governance activities, board matters, legal filings, and regulatory reporting obligations
  • Manage legal disputes, claims, litigation, arbitration, and settlement negotiations
  • Coordinate with external legal counsel, regulatory authorities, government agencies, and industry stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain compliance programs, legal policies, and risk management frameworks
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and business expansion initiatives
  • Provide legal guidance on health, safety, environmental, and operational compliance requirements
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the petroleum, energy, and industrial services sectors

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD, LLB, or equivalent law degree) from an accredited institution
  • Licensed and in good standing with the applicable legal authority or bar association
  • Minimum 5+ years of legal experience in corporate, commercial, energy, petroleum, industrial, construction, or infrastructure-related legal environments
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and commercial transactions
  • Excellent legal drafting, negotiation, analytical, and communication skills
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple complex legal matters simultaneously
  • High standards of professionalism, ethics, and confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within oil and gas, petroleum services, energy, industrial operations, engineering, or infrastructure sectors
  • Familiarity with energy regulations, procurement practices, project contracts, and environmental compliance requirements
  • Experience supporting major projects, joint ventures, and large-scale service agreements
  • Previous in-house counsel experience is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of international commercial transactions and cross-border business operations is an asset
