Role Description
This full-time, on-site Legal Advisor role is based at Plekhanov University in Dubai.
The Legal Advisor will provide timely, practical legal guidance on university operations, contracts, policies, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal documents and agreements, as well as preparing internal policies and guidelines aligned with applicable laws.
The role involves advising on labor and employment matters, student-related issues, data protection, and other institutional legal concerns.
The Legal Advisor will liaise with external counsel when needed, support risk management and dispute resolution, and collaborate with academic and administrative departments to ensure decisions are legally sound and aligned with university objectives.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Law with the ability to interpret and apply local (UAE) and international legal frameworks relevant to higher education.
- Proficiency in Legal Document Preparation, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, policies, and formal correspondence.
- Experience identifying, analyzing, and resolving Legal Issues across academic, administrative, and governance contexts.
- Demonstrated capability to provide clear, actionable Legal Advice to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of Labor and Employment Law, particularly UAE labor regulations, including contracts, disciplinary procedures, and workplace compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) required; advanced degree or professional legal qualification (e.g., admission to a bar or law society) is preferred.
- Prior experience as an in-house counsel or legal advisor, ideally in education, public sector, or a complex institutional environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously.
- High ethical standards, sound judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders in a multicultural environment.
