Lead System Engineering - Database Architecture and Engineering

Work arrangement

• Office presence is required five days per week at the posted location; relocation is not offered.

Role and team

Infrastructure automation

• Design, test, and maintain reusable Terraform modules for database-ready infrastructure.
• Build GitHub Actions workflows for provisioning, configuration, validation, and teardown.
• Automate compute, storage, networking, identity, security, and database-supporting services.
• Maintain shared components and migrate legacy scripts and pipelines to standardized GitHub and Terraform workflows.
• Improve reliability through validation, dependency management, error handling, logging, testing, and rerun-safe deployment behavior.

Cloud and database platform enablement

• Engineer infrastructure across AWS, AWS Outposts, Azure, and hybrid environments.
• Configure compute, storage, filesystems, networking, encryption, operating systems, and supporting agents.
• Translate database product requirements into standard infrastructure modules and deployment configurations.
• Support patterns for database high availability, replication, disaster recovery, onboarding, and migration readiness.
• Define infrastructure validation and handoff criteria for installation, migration, and operational support.

Security and operational support

• Integrate encryption, key management, secrets, identity controls, network segmentation, logging, and audit requirements.
• Integrate deployments with backup, monitoring, vulnerability management, logging, and service-management processes.
• Troubleshoot failed Terraform runs, workflow failures, cloud errors, Linux configuration, identity, networking, storage, and integrations.
• Coordinate cross-team issue resolution, develop durable fixes, and improve runbooks and support documentation.

Technical leadership and collaboration

• Coordinate technical work and break complex objectives into implementable tasks, dependencies, and acceptance criteria.
• Promote standards for Terraform, source control, pipelines, testing, documentation, and release management.
• Coach engineers on infrastructure as code, cloud, automation, Linux, troubleshooting, and database infrastructure.
• Communicate technical designs, risks, and recommendations; contribute to reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing.

Required qualifications

• At least 5 years delivering production Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Terraform and automated deployment pipelines.
• Demonstrated engineering technical leadership or coordination of a focused technical workstream.
• Strong hands-on Terraform module development and understanding of reusable IaC design, state, dependencies, versioning, testing, and releases.
• At least 5 years building or supporting CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or a comparable platform.
• At least 5 years with AWS infrastructure services, including EC2, EBS, IAM, KMS, SSM, VPC, networking, Secrets Manager, and CloudWatch.
• Strong Linux engineering and troubleshooting; scripting or programming experience with Bash, Python, PowerShell, or a comparable language.
• Experience diagnosing complex infrastructure, automation, configuration, networking, access, or deployment issues.
• Working knowledge of enterprise security principles, including least privilege and role-based access.

Compensation

• Annual compensation range is USD $141,300–$237,400.
