Lead Roving Technician

Role overview

Service and commissioning

• Support assigned-area sites under long-term service agreements and fill in as field site supervisor or site lead.
• Coordinate commissioning and service work with project, commissioning, and LTSA managers.
• Plan service and commissioning activities with customers, including LOTO procedures where applicable.
• Provide onsite diagnostics, troubleshooting, and hands-on support to maintain equipment and meet availability and capacity guarantees.

Coordination and technical support

• Coordinate STO and RMA completion; track quality issues and nonconformance reports.
• Arrange third-party repairs or site support and work with performance engineering to resolve issues, using Jira tracking as needed.
• Allocate contracted workers to schedules and manage funding and onboarding.
• Respond to transit-related equipment repairs and damage assessments.
• Assist with procedures and continuous improvement; develop operating procedures and processes.

Team leadership and safety

• Train service technicians and contractors in SolBank commissioning, LTSA support, and CMMS use.
• Lead site scheduling and ensure safety and environmental compliance on new projects.
• Coordinate the transition of projects to Operations and advise service technicians and field supervisors.

Qualifications

• Educational background in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least five years of relevant work experience in a service environment.
• Experience with BESS or renewable power-generation equipment in a service environment.
• Knowledge of general and national codes, medium-voltage power systems, and photovoltaic or energy storage applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
• Willingness and ability to travel to regional locations as needed, up to 100% of the time.
• Renewable-energy experience and prior CMMS software experience are preferred.

Compensation

• Compensation is $90,000–$115,000 plus an annual bonus.

Work location

• The position identifies Elora, Hedley, or Oxford, Ontario as locations and requires travel to project sites across Ontario.
