Role description
Full-time, on-site Lead Road Design Engineer position based in Abu Dhabi.
Leads design and development of road and highway projects, including alignment design, geometric layouts, and detailed engineering drawings.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate interdisciplinary design inputs and integrate drainage, utilities, and structural components.
- Review and validate design calculations; check and approve CAD drawings and design reports.
- Supervise junior engineers and designers and provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and authorities; contribute to tenders and technical proposals.
- Ensure design deliverables meet quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness objectives and comply with applicable standards and regulations.
Qualifications
- Strong design engineering skills and proven experience leading road and highway design projects.
- Relevant mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge for road infrastructure and associated systems; proficiency in CAD tools used for road and infrastructure design.
- Experience with product or component-level design related to roadway elements and traffic infrastructure.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline; professional registration or chartered status is an advantage.
- Understanding of regional and international road design standards, codes, and best practices.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage design schedules, and deliver high-quality outputs within time and budget constraints.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, including client and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience on major MENA infrastructure projects is highly beneficial.
