Take technical responsibility for project programme quality, credibility, and integration using Primavera P6.
Provide each Project Manager with planning support, regular communication, and practical advice.
Key responsibilities
- Lead planning across several concurrent projects and prioritize work by contractual deadlines, risk, and delivery needs.
- Maintain the integrity of planning analysis and recommendations; Project Managers retain delivery accountability and Commercial retains contractual and settlement responsibilities.
- Develop and maintain integrated Primavera P6 programmes from tender and mobilization through engineering, procurement, manufacture where relevant, installation, commissioning, and handover.
- Lead preparation and technical review of programme submissions and revisions under applicable NEC3 requirements and agreed timetables.
- Integrate cost and resource loading where required; produce time-phased labour, plant, and material requirements and identify demand conflicts.
- Coach and peer-review planners and project teams, sharing NEC3 and Primavera P6 expertise.
- Represent planning in client meetings, project reviews, risk workshops, and tender discussions; explain programme logic and analysis.
- Maintain trusted working relationships with Project Managers and turn planning analysis into practical advice and actions.
What the role requires
- Demonstrable experience independently leading planning across complex, concurrent engineering and construction projects with design, procurement, supplier, and site-delivery interfaces.
- Practical NEC3 planning experience, including contract programme preparation and updates and analysis of compensation-event and delay impacts.
- Advanced Primavera P6 capability across integrated schedules, logic and critical-path analysis, baselines, progress updates, resource and cost loading, and scenario modelling.
- Strong understanding of project controls, cost and resource forecasting, earned value principles, and programme performance’s relationship to commercial exposure.
- Ability to prioritize multiple project demands and contractual reporting deadlines, work independently, and support colleagues technically.
Benefits
- Competitive salary; holiday allowance starts at 26 days per annum plus bank holidays, pro rata for part-time roles.
- Life insurance at four times annual salary and an enhanced company pension scheme.
- Employee assistance programme, 24/7 remote GP access, and second medical opinions.
- Employee rewards, family-friendly policies, bike-to-work scheme, and long-service awards.
- Ongoing professional development and training.
