We are a sports technology company building Artemis, a platform designed to modernize and unify sports administration and engagement across the UAE. Our focus is on practical, scalable systems that deliver real operational value - from grassroots academies to governing bodies.

We are not building a mobile app as a standalone product - we are building a critical interface into a national ecosystem.

Job Summary

We are looking for a Lead Mobile App Developer to take full ownership of the architecture, build, and delivery of our cross-platform mobile application.

This role operates within a highly AI-augmented engineering environment, where modern tooling is used to significantly increase development speed and quality.

You will be responsible for the entire mobile delivery system - from architecture decisions through to deployment, performance, and ongoing iteration.

This is not just a development role. It is a system ownership role, with future responsibility for building and leading a mobile team.

Key Responsibilities

Mobile Architecture & Development

• Own the architecture and implementation of the mobile application (React Native or equivalent)
• Build scalable, maintainable component libraries and code structures
• Ensure clear separation of concerns between UI, state, and service layers

AI-Augmented Development

• Operate effectively using AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Cursor, Copilot, or similar)
• Use AI to accelerate development, debugging, testing, and documentation
• Establish practices for validating and reviewing AI-generated code
• Guide future team members in effective AI-assisted workflows

Integration & Backend Collaboration

• Integrate APIs securely and ensure reliable communication with backend services
• Work closely with backend engineers to define clean API contracts
• Ensure correct handling of authentication, tokens, and data security

User Experience & UI Delivery

• Collaborate with design teams to deliver consistent, high-quality UI
• Balance design fidelity with performance and usability constraints
• Ensure consistent behaviour across iOS and Android platforms

Performance & Reliability

• Optimise application performance, responsiveness, and stability
• Diagnose and resolve issues across devices and environments
• Ensure app reliability under real-world usage conditions

Delivery & Operations

• Manage build, deployment, and release processes for iOS and Android
• Maintain version control, release discipline, and documentation
• Ensure a stable and repeatable mobile delivery pipeline

Leadership & Team Development

• Mentor junior and mid-level developers as the team grows
• Define coding standards and development practices
• Contribute to hiring and shaping the mobile team

Required Experience and Qualifications

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in mobile app development
• Proven experience delivering production mobile applications
• Experience owning or significantly contributing to app architecture

AI & Workflow Fluency (Critical)

• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Cursor, Copilot, or similar)
• Ability to work effectively in an augmented development workflow
• Understanding of limitations and risks of AI-generated code

Technical Skills

• Strong experience with:
• React Native (or equivalent cross-platform frameworks)
• JavaScript / TypeScript
• Mobile application lifecycle (build, release, update)
• Solid understanding of:
• iOS and Android platforms
• API integration and token-based authentication
• Mobile performance optimisation and debugging

Architecture & Engineering Thinking

• Ability to design simple, scalable mobile architectures
• Strong focus on maintainability and long-term system health
• Avoidance of unnecessary complexity

Leadership & Communication

• Experience mentoring developers or leading delivery
• Strong collaboration skills across product, design, and backend teams
• Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience (preferred)
