Role overview

Leadership and analysis

• Lead economic advice and analytical strategy for the Investment Analysis team, maintaining rigorous professional standards.
• Manage and develop a multidisciplinary team, including Government Economic Service and Government Social Research Fast Streamers.
• Develop the team strategy with the Head of Research, Evaluation & Analysis and align it with government missions and organisational objectives.

Business cases and evaluation

• Review economic business cases and evaluation strategies as custodian of Green and Magenta Book principles.
• Lead professional input to business case design, appraisal, and evaluation for complex projects and programmes.
• Co-design process, impact, and value-for-money evaluation frameworks, analysis, and metrics.
• Supervise monetisation, discounting, sensitivity analysis, and cost-benefit analysis.

Partnership and assurance

• Work with senior responsible owners and internal directorates to identify information needs and design effective analysis.
• Synthesize diverse evidence into clear conclusions for senior non-specialists and identify actionable implications.
• Lead quality assurance in line with the AQuA Book and provide technical sign-off for economic inputs that withstand external scrutiny.
