Lead Instrumentation & Control Engineer-(6 Months Contract)

Role overview

Engineering leadership and delivery

• Own discipline engineering deliverables, technical integrity, and team performance.
• Develop execution strategies, work plans, resource forecasts, and deliverable schedules.
• Lead and mentor engineers and designers; review and approve team, consultant, and subcontractor deliverables.
• Coordinate with project management, engineering management, clients, operations, vendors, and other disciplines.
• Support proposals, technical bid evaluations, manpower estimates, cost forecasts, and discipline planning.
• Lead brownfield modifications, debottlenecking, facility upgrades, and control system migrations.

Technical scope and functional safety

• Prepare and approve instrument indexes, I/O lists, datasheets, specifications, requisitions, bid evaluations, cable schedules, control philosophies, system architecture documents, and drawings.
• Lead functional safety lifecycle activities in accordance with IEC 61508 and IEC 61511; develop, review, and approve SRS documents.
• Participate in SIL determination, verification, and validation; review SIFs and performance and reliability requirements.
• Close recommendations from HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, CHAZOP, cybersecurity, and other risk studies.
• Apply IEC, ISA, API, IEEE, NFPA, NACE, ISO, and ATEX/IECEx standards.
• Review calculations for control valves, flow elements, thermowells, relief valves, and associated instrumentation.
• Consider maintainability, operability, reliability, lifecycle performance, and asset integrity in designs.

Coordination and project controls

• Facilitate design reviews, technical assurance, value engineering, workshops, and engineering resolution meetings.
• Coordinate with process, mechanical, piping, electrical, telecommunications, and other disciplines.
• Monitor progress against schedules, budgets, and milestones; identify risks and implement mitigations.
• Support planning, forecasting, progress reporting, and resource management; resolve technical issues and implement management-of-change processes.

Requirements

• Serve as the lead discipline engineer for instrumentation and control engineering activities and deliverables.
• Provide technical authority for instrumentation, automation, control systems, and functional safety matters.
• Apply functional safety lifecycle requirements, including IEC 61508 and IEC 61511.
• Interpret and apply applicable international codes and standards, including IEC, ISA, API, IEEE, NFPA, NACE, ISO, and ATEX/IECEx.
• Coordinate engineering work across project management, clients, operations, vendors, and other engineering disciplines.
