Lead Instrumentation and Control Engineer - Greenfield

Role overview

Engineering leadership

• Lead the Instrument and Control engineering team through FEED, EPC, and execution.
• Plan, coordinate, and review engineering deliverables; monitor progress, resource allocation, and budget requirements.
• Ensure compliance with ADNOC Offshore standards, project specifications, international codes, safety and quality requirements, and schedules.
• Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil and Structural, Telecom, and HSE disciplines.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to senior engineers, engineers, and designers.

Instrumentation engineering

• Develop and review instrument indexes, datasheets, I/O lists, hook-up drawings, cable schedules, installation details, location plans, wiring diagrams, and loop diagrams.
• Review instrument selection for hazardous offshore environments, including pressure and temperature instruments, flow meters, level instruments, analyzers, control and on-off valves, and safety devices.

Control systems

• Lead engineering for DCS, ESD, FGS, PLC, SCADA, and ICSS.
• Review cause-and-effect matrices and shutdown philosophies and ensure interfaces among control, safety, package, and third-party vendor systems.
• Participate in control system architecture reviews and cybersecurity assessments.

Functional and process safety

• Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL studies, LOPA workshops, constructability reviews, and design reviews.
• Support SIF allocation and SIL verification, ensure compliance with IEC 61508 and IEC 61511, and review Safety Requirement Specifications.

Telecom and interfaces

• Coordinate offshore PA/GA, telephone, radio, CCTV, LAN/WAN, and fiber-optic communication systems with telecom engineers.
• Ensure seamless integration between telecom and control systems.

Procurement and vendors

• Prepare and review technical requisitions for instrumentation and control systems; conduct technical bid evaluations and vendor assessments.
• Review vendor documents and drawings, resolve supplier and contractor technical queries and deviations, and participate in vendor FAT activities.

Construction and commissioning

• Provide technical support during construction and offshore installation and review construction queries and field modifications.
• Support FAT, IFAT, SAT, loop checks, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities.
• Witness system acceptance testing and performance validation.

Project coordination

• Interface with ADNOC Offshore representatives and EPC contractors and ensure engineering deliverables meet agreed schedules.
• Identify technical risks and develop mitigation plans.

Requirements

• Lead and manage instrumentation, control, automation, telecom, and safety system engineering activities for ADNOC Offshore greenfield and brownfield projects.
• Ensure engineering designs comply with ADNOC Offshore standards, international codes, project specifications, safety requirements, quality standards, and project schedules.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to senior engineers, engineers, and designers.
• Coordinate engineering across Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil and Structural, Telecom, and HSE disciplines.
• Support functional safety work, including SIF allocation, SIL verification, and compliance with IEC 61508 and IEC 61511.
