Role Overview
The role is a G7 Lead DevOps Engineer in DSIT’s central Data Science and Engineering team, within the Analysis function.
The team is building a modern, unified analytical tooling and data platform to give departmental analysts secure, timely access to tools and data.
The platform is based on the Ministry of Justice’s open-source Analytical Platform; user acceptance testing is complete and migration preparation is underway.
The team is small, autonomous and collaborative, with opportunities to shape how the work is done.

Platform components
- Analytical tooling includes JupyterLab, RStudio, VS Code, GitHub integration and cloud-based workflow orchestration.
- The data platform includes pipelines, storage and ingestion processes to help analysts find and use trusted data.
Responsibilities
- Own and extend infrastructure and tools that enable secure analytical work.
- Help develop platform features and iterate based on user feedback.
- Collaborate with specialists in data engineering, DevOps and software development.
Salary and contract
- Salary range is £58,275–£71,040, with national and London ranges; an allowance of up to £10,000 may apply depending on skills, qualifications and experience.
- The position is permanent.
- A Civil Service Pension is offered with an employer contribution of 28.97%.

- Listed work locations are Bristol, London and Salford.
Requirements
- Relevant experience and expertise in DevOps and infrastructure engineering for analytical tooling platforms.
- Ability to work collaboratively and take ownership of platform infrastructure and tools.
