A leading utilities organisation in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Lead, Commercial and Capital Structure (UAE National) to join their Portfolio Management division. What you'll do:

As Lead Commercial and Capital Structure (UAEN), you will be entrusted with responsibilities that span across financial modelling, business valuation, report preparation, stakeholder negotiation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Your day-to-day activities will involve analysing key business drivers through advanced modelling techniques; preparing detailed reports for senior management; conducting due diligence on investment opportunities; negotiating commercial terms; securing necessary internal approvals; and fostering relationships with both internal teams and external partners. Success in this role requires you to demonstrate meticulous attention to detail when developing financial models; communicate effectively when presenting findings; collaborate seamlessly within multicultural environments; and proactively identify process improvements that enhance operational excellence. • Prepare sectional statements and reports promptly to meet organisational requirements, policies, and quality standards.
• Develop and review robust financial models by analysing key business drivers and conducting scenario analyses to ensure alignment with financial principles while assessing the impact of strategic initiatives on investment returns.
• Conduct thorough business valuations and investment analysis through due diligence exercises to evaluate potential opportunities for growth.
• Create internal reports, information memoranda, summaries, and presentations tailored for senior management to facilitate informed decision-making.
• Build a deep understanding of commercial and contractual implications under various agreements relevant to the energy generation sector.
• Support commercial analysis efforts by negotiating with stakeholders to identify solutions for challenges arising at different phases of projects.
• Participate actively in negotiations of commercial and contractual aspects with banks, contractors, financial institutions, and other third parties under managerial guidance.
• Secure internal approvals in accordance with established guidelines to ensure compliance throughout all processes.
• Collaborate with portfolio management teams to prepare comprehensive recommendations for headquarters senior management regarding financial, contractual, commercial, or strategic matters.
• Contribute to the development of strong relationships with strategic partners as well as internal entities by upholding the highest standards of business ethics.

What you bring:

To excel as Lead Commercial and Capital Structure (UAEN), your background should reflect substantial experience in project financing-particularly within IWPP contexts-and advanced capabilities in financial modelling. Your academic credentials should include a finance-related degree complemented by professional certifications such as CFA if available. You bring a blend of technical prowess in analysing business drivers alongside soft skills like empathy, collaboration, effective communication, and adaptability. Your proven track record includes managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders from diverse backgrounds; preparing impactful presentations for executive audiences; navigating commercial negotiations; implementing process improvements; and maintaining operational excellence. Your ability to connect ideas across disciplines ensures that recommendations are not only technically sound but also considerate of broader business objectives. • Bachelor's degree in finance is required; CFA or equivalent qualification would be considered an asset.
• Minimum five years' experience in IWPP project financing financial modelling with exposure to both greenfield and brownfield infrastructure projects.
• Advanced analytical skills enabling you to interpret complex data sets for scenario analysis and sensitivity testing.
• Exceptional communication abilities allowing you to present findings clearly to senior management while facilitating productive discussions among stakeholders.
• Proven capacity to thrive under pressure within multicultural environments as part of multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong interpersonal skills that enable you to build trust-based relationships across departments and external partners.
• Project management proficiency including the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders and develop comprehensive presentations that resolve issues efficiently.
