The Associate role in the Applied Science Practice provides specialist thermofluids and computational fluid dynamics support.
Client sectors include energy, energy storage, carbon capture and storage, infrastructure, and defense.
The UK thermofluids team works with US colleagues on international projects, including decarbonisation and the built environment.
Responsibilities
- Identify new opportunities across industries and engage new and existing clients.
- Deliver consultancy projects and interface with customers in the UK and overseas.
- Lead projects and workstreams, support colleagues, and attend client meetings to present results and help prepare proposals.
- Assess, design, and improve engineering systems and processes for client companies.
- Support work across facility development, safe operation, and decommissioning.
Candidate requirements
- More than seven years of professional experience in the field.
- Robust understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
- Experience with commercial CFD packages such as ANSYS-CFX, ANSYS-Fluent, FLACS, or OpenFOAM.
- Relevant applied mathematics, physical science, or engineering degree, or equivalent training or experience.
- Master's degree and/or PhD preferred.
- Ability to prepare written reports and oral presentations; comfortable tackling new technical problems with attention to detail.
- Must be able to obtain UK government security clearance; eligibility depends on individual circumstances.
