About This Role
Job Objective
Oversee the day-to-day activities of the Laboratory Section to best fit company multiple demands and provide analytical support to the Section, in compliance to the requirements of policies and standards and in line with the quality management system, and internal customers’ requirements in order to monitor plant production.
Key Accountabilities
- Analysis of Samples
- Analyze and verify all samples including raw-materials, in-process and finished products accurately and report on time. Ensure analyses are done correctly, aware of SOPs, MSDS, ECM, and followed safety instructions.
- Act as a single point contact for all outside communication when assigned.
- Responsible for conducting Lab toolbox and Monthly Safety meetings and non-routine analysis.
- Maintain good housekeeping in all laboratories.
LIMS Data Entry
- Ensure that all completed analysis of his shift have been done on time and entered in LIMS.
- Report abnormal samples and analysis results immediately to concerned BO.
Batch Grading (QChem Only)
- Grade the completed Lots following grading guidelines in LIMS and Batch Tracker on time to facilitate smooth bagging.
- Ensure that batches are classified and graded Prime/NP/Off spec correctly in the LIMS and Batch Tracker.
- In case of problem in IT tools like LIMS, Batch Tracker, and crystal report, will contact IT through call out of IT helpdesk complaint reporting system.
Products Shipment
- Responsible for completing product analysis, preparing, and signing COAs. Coordinate with all parties involved in the shipment and complete the shipment activities in timely manner.
- Responsible for all sample retentions as per the guideline.
- Responsible to communicate with Dock supervisor for all concerns and activities related to shipment.
- Toolbox meeting and Internal auditor for ISO 17025
- Conduct daily lab toolbox meeting, discussing safety issues of plant and lab and share details with group.
- As certified auditor, take internal auditor role for ISO17025 internal audit. Report and record all the findings.
Communication
- Communicate and share all information with group employees, chemists, and Lab Superintendent for smooth conduct of lab business.
- Senior Lab Tester will be performing above mentioned tasks in addition to the job mentioned in Lab Tester JD
Policies, Systems, Processes and Procedures
- Contribute to the identification of opportunities for the continuous improvement of systems, processes, and practices in order to increase productivity and operational efficiency.
- Implement all relevant policies, processes, procedures, and instructions of Laboratory Section so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
Quality, Health, Security, Safety and Environment
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and relevant quality, health, safety, security and environmental procedures and controls across Laboratory Section to guarantee employee safety and delivery of high-quality products/services.
- Lead and perform monthly safety audit of the laboratory and highlight the action times and record and save the audit findings.
- Maintain all lab calibration records, PM records to comply with ISO 17025 requirements.
- Maintain all SQC records mandatory for Lab Accreditation process.
- ERT member in the role of certified EMR and respond for all emergency situations required time to time. Ensure fellow members respond properly during emergency call.
Reporting
- Contribute to the preparation of timely and accurate reports to meet departmental requirements, policies, and standards.
Qatarization
- Contribute to the development of Qatari employees. This accountability is applicable to expatriate employees only.
Required
:
Diploma in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Chemical Engineering or Diploma in Environmental, Polymers Science, or any related discipline.
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Chemical Engineering or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Polymers Science or any related discipline.
Experience
Required experience of 3-5 years in Laboratories within an Oil & Gas/Petrochemical Industry.
Other Job Specific Requirements and/or Vocational Accreditations
- Expertise in calibration techniques, lab chemicals / hydrocarbons handling, lab data handling, Lab Instruments Maintenance
- In-depth knowledge of ISO & GLP - Good Lab Practices, lab instruments, physical, analytical, organic, and polymers, Statistical Quality Control (SQC)
