Overview
Perform routine and specialized biological analyses using techniques such as microscopy, cell culture, microbial assays, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and spectrophotometry.
Prepare biological samples, reagents, culture media, and standards according to established laboratory protocols.
Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment in compliance with standard operating procedures.
Accurately record, analyze, and interpret experimental data, maintaining detailed and organized laboratory records.
Identify and troubleshoot experimental and technical issues, recommending appropriate corrective actions.
Assist in the development, optimization, and validation of laboratory methods and experimental procedures.
Support faculty and research teams in academic and research projects, including student laboratory sessions.
Ensure strict adherence to laboratory safety guidelines, biosafety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
Participate in laboratory management tasks, including inventory control, procurement of supplies, sterilization, and biological waste disposal.
Stay updated with advancements in biological sciences through literature review, training, and professional development activities.
Job Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor s degree in biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or a related field (master s degree preferred).
Prior experience working in a biology laboratory, preferably within an academic or research environment.
Hands-on experience with biological techniques such as microscopy, microbial culture, molecular biology methods (PCR, electrophoresis), and basic biochemical assays.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot laboratory procedures effectively.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Knowledge of laboratory safety practices, including biosafety, sterilization techniques, and biological waste management.
Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office and data analysis software.
Ability to adapt to dynamic laboratory environments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
