Role Description

The Laboratory Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Riyadh.

This role is responsible for performing routine and specialized laboratory tests, operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring accurate, timely analysis of patient samples.

The Laboratory Specialist will follow established protocols, support quality control and quality assurance procedures, document results in laboratory information systems, and report critical findings to clinicians.

Daily activities include specimen collection and preparation, calibration and troubleshooting of instruments, adherence to safety and infection-control standards, and collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other laboratory team members.

The role also involves contributing to process improvements, participating in internal audits, and supporting training of new staff when needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong laboratory practice and technical proficiency, including core laboratory skills and familiarity with laboratory medicine principles.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment, including operation, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Solid analytical skills with the ability to interpret test results, validate data, and identify discrepancies.
  • Knowledge of quality control processes and quality assurance standards within clinical laboratory settings.
  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field, with relevant professional licensure or eligibility as required by local regulations.
  • Understanding of safety, biosafety, and infection-prevention protocols in healthcare environments.
  • Effective communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Previous experience in a clinical laboratory setting, particularly in a hospital or multi-specialty medical center, is an advantage.
