About the role

Lead the day-to-day UK onboarding operation as Ramp scales its UK business.

The European operations team onboards UK and EU businesses across Ramp-regulated entities and card-issuing and payments partners.

This is a hands-on leadership role combining team management, case decisions, and operational improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop UK operators, including prioritization, one-to-ones, and performance.
  • Own onboarding queue management and resourcing, including coverage for leave and volume spikes.
  • Make first-line decisions on complex ownership, enhanced due diligence, PEP, and adverse-media cases.
  • Manage partner escalations and convert fixes into repeatable playbooks.
  • Maintain clear customer communications and timely follow-ups.
  • Report operational metrics and improve the operation using those metrics.
  • Work with Product and Engineering to remove unnecessary onboarding friction.
  • Maintain evidence-based decision standards and provide safeguarding backup, including reconciliations and break investigations.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years in KYB, onboarding, or financial-crime operations at a UK fintech, EMI, PI, or bank.
  • Working knowledge of MLRs 2017, JMLSG guidance, and FCA expectations for customer due diligence.
  • Sound judgment on complex business customers, ownership structures, trusts, PEPs, and escalation decisions.
  • Clear written customer communication and documented case decisions.
  • Demonstrated day-to-day use of AI tools with concrete examples.
  • Strong preference for a process-improvement mindset.

Nice-to-haves

  • Line management of operators or analysts is strongly preferred.
  • Card-issuing, BaaS, or payments-partner onboarding experience is advantageous.
  • Safeguarding or client-money reconciliation experience is advantageous.
  • Writing requirements for Product and Engineering is advantageous.
  • EU onboarding experience or a second European language is advantageous.

Compensation

  • London target base salary is £95,000–£130,000, with equity offered.
  • Final compensation depends on hiring location and level.

Location and work arrangement

  • The posting lists London, UK and Remote (UK), while its location type is marked On-site.

Benefits

  • Full-time employees receive flexible paid time off, home-office equipment ordering, a health and wellness stipend, intra-office travel budget, and a weekly coffee stipend.
