- Active Directory experience.
- Experience with enterprise asset management systems.
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 and Teams.
- Experience performing user-profile/data migrations.
- Basic command-line troubleshooting knowledge.
- Mac/macOS support experience is a plus.
- Experience working across multiple facilities or supporting field-based IT deployments.
Physical & Field Requirements
- This is a hands-on onsite technical position involving the movement and installation of computer equipment.
- Candidates should be comfortable with:
- Frequently handling approximately 20 lbs of equipment as needed.
- Lifting equipment weighing up to 50 lbs with two-person assistance .
- Moving desktops, monitors, laptops, peripherals, and other IT equipment.
- Carrying equipment between locations.
- Working at desks/workstations during hardware installations.
- Performing workstation setup and teardown activities.
Local Driving & Equipment Transportation
Local driving may be required when performing workstation refreshes or supporting remote facilities.
Technicians may transport approximately 2–3 computer systems in a personal vehicle.
Approximate maximum equipment value transported at one time is $3,000 .
Equipment transportation could occur daily , depending on deployment activity.
Typical travel distance between locations averages approximately 20 miles .
Larger quantities of equipment should follow appropriate organizational/SOX controls rather than being transported routinely by an individual technician.
Some locations may also have access to Kaiser Permanente fleet vehicles. Technicians would need to complete the applicable training/certification requirements before operating a KP vehicle.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The strongest candidate is likely a junior Desktop Support Technician, PC Technician, IT Support Technician, Deployment Technician, Field Services Technician, or Workstation Technician who already has hands-on experience working with Windows computers.
For resume review, I would favor candidates who have physically imaged, configured, deployed, replaced, and troubleshot PCs rather than candidates whose experience is primarily phone-based help desk support.
Someone coming from a large-scale Windows 10/11 refresh, hardware deployment, desktop migration, or field-services project could be particularly strong because this role involves significant workstation deployment and asset activity.
An advanced systems administrator or network engineer would likely be overqualified unless they are specifically interested in a hands-on workstation support position.
Soft Skills & Behavioral Expectations
- The technician should demonstrate:
- Strong customer service skills.
- Professional communication.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to learn quickly.
- Adaptability when procedures or deployment plans change.

- Ability to work independently.
- Good judgment regarding when to escalate.
- Collaborative approach when working with other technicians.
- Professional appearance and behavior.
- Commitment to learning new technical concepts and tools.
