The Junior Credit Controller is accountable for credit-control and debt-collection responsibilities.
Credit control and collections
- Submit invoices with service reports or breakdowns to customers by email at the beginning of each month.
- Negotiate payment plans with customers and set payment terms and conditions.
- Maintain debt records, analyze the credit-control system regularly, and implement changes to reduce bad debts.
- Monitor assigned aged debtors, reduce outstanding balances, and act promptly on non-payment or repeated late payment.
- Initiate collection calls to resolve outstanding debts and billing issues on complex accounts.
- Reconcile customer accounts monthly and share outstanding balances with customers where required.
- Record communications, payment plans, and disputes in OnGuard; update dashboards and tracker sheets daily.
- Follow up on overdue invoices and payments and apply company collection procedures as needed.
- Report outstanding debt accounts and payment issues to management weekly.
- Review credit notes or additional billings and negotiate payment plans where required.
- Manage service suspensions for debt recovery, pursue aged debt, and lead reviews of debtor key accounts.
- Prepare proposals for delinquent accounts that may require legal action and report disputes to Finance management for advice.
Team support
- Provide ongoing coaching and support to the credit-control team to help achieve departmental goals and collection targets.
- Train new joiners on the OnGuard collection system, processes, and procedures.

- The role requires recording debtors’ communications, payment plans, and disputes in OnGuard and updating dashboards and tracker sheets daily.
