Junior Credit Controller

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Submit all invoices with proper documentation, such as service reports and breakdowns, to customers via email at the beginning of each month.
• Negotiate payment plans with customers and establish appropriate payment terms and conditions.
• Maintain accurate debt records, conduct regular analysis of the credit-control system, and implement necessary changes to reduce bad debts.
• Analyze and monitor all assigned aged debtors to reduce outstanding debt and ensure prompt action for non-payment or continued late payment.
• Oversee and initiate collection calls with concerned parties and account holders to resolve outstanding customer debts and billing issues on complex accounts.
• Perform monthly customer account reconciliations and share outstanding balances with customers as required.
• Record all debtor communications, payment plans, and disputes on OnGuard, ensuring dashboards and tracker sheets are updated daily.
• Follow up on overdue invoices and payments, implementing company collection procedures as necessary.
• Report outstanding debt accounts and payment issues to management on a weekly basis.
• Review credit notes or additional billings and negotiate payment plans with debtors where required.
• Manage the service suspension process for debt recovery, actively chase aged debt, and lead reviews of key debtor accounts.
• Prepare proposals for delinquency accounts where legal action may be required and report account disputes for Finance management to advise on appropriate actions.
• Team Support and Development
• Provide continuous coaching and support to credit control teams to achieve departmental goals and collection targets.
• Support the team by training new joiners on collection systems (OnGuard), processes, and procedures.
• Experience Required
• Candidates should possess 5-10 years of experience in a relevant credit control or finance role.
