Junior Accountant

Job purpose

Accounts Payable

• Handle day-to-day Accounts Payable transactions and record them accurately in the accounting system.
• Review supplier invoices against supporting documents, approvals, purchase orders, and receiving records where applicable; code and allocate them to the correct accounts and cost centers.
• Maintain supplier records, prepare reconciliations, and investigate differences or outstanding items.
• Prepare supplier payments according to approved terms and procedures, ensuring required documents and approvals are in place.
• Follow up on missing invoices, credit notes, documents, and other pending matters; coordinate discrepancies with relevant departments.
• Respond to supplier account and payment inquiries and maintain invoice, payment, and supplier documentation.

General accounting

• Assist with bank and intercompany reconciliations; prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and assigned accounting adjustments.
• Support month-end and year-end closing, particularly Accounts Payable schedules and reconciliations, and help maintain accurate General Ledger records.
• Support accounting schedules and financial reports, and assist with fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and accruals when required.
• Provide schedules and supporting documents for internal and external audits; follow company policies, procedures, and applicable accounting requirements.
• Perform other duties assigned by management within the scope of the role.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• One to three years of accounting experience; practical Accounts Payable exposure is preferred.
• Good understanding of invoice processing, supplier reconciliations, payment processing, and basic accounting principles.
• Hospitality, F&B, or high-volume environment experience is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of ERP or accounting systems and good Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy; good organizational and time-management skills.
• Able to coordinate effectively with suppliers and internal departments.
• Good communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.
