Company Overview

Aspen Custom Trailers designs and manufactures heavy-haul transportation equipment in North America.

The company is a growing business with a large indoor shop and established long-service workforce.

Role Overview

The company is seeking experienced metal fabricators who can perform metal-core flat and horizontal GMAW.

Apprentices seeking to become welder-fitters are welcome to apply.

Two shifts are available, with shift premiums for the afternoon shift.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams, including numerical conversions.
  • Plan task sequences, cut steel efficiently, obtain materials from stock, and mark patterns when required.
  • Operate metalworking machines and cutting torches to cut, drill, punch, and roll steel.
  • Assemble, fit, and fasten metal sections and plates into complete units or sub-units.
  • Perform welding and fabrication work and complete quality assurance and control activities.
  • Maintain equipment, safety, housekeeping, and a healthy work environment.
  • Use the overhead crane safely.

Qualifications

  • Alberta Journeyman Metal Fabricator Fitter Ticket or Red Seal Certification is required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Experience with GMAW is required.

Physical and Testing Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and pass a fitness test.
  • A weld test is required.
  • Required PPE includes steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection; coveralls are provided.

Shift Availability

  • Day shift is Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Afternoon shift is Monday to Thursday, 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., with a $3.00 shift premium.
  • Overtime and weekend work are available.
