Key responsibilities
- Own secure, performant, and recoverable enterprise database operations, ensuring continuous availability and SLA compliance.
- Manage database lifecycle activities, including automated schema deployments, upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning.
- Implement, test, and maintain high-availability clustering, database replication, and backup and restore mechanisms.
- Monitor database health, optimize query performance, troubleshoot systemic bottlenecks, and forecast capacity and archival or purge requirements.
- Enforce database security standards, access controls, patching schedules, and vulnerability management.
- Automate routine database workflows to reduce manual work and single-person dependencies.
- Maintain database registers, backup and recovery reports, health and performance analytics, patch reports, and disaster recovery restore test results.
Required skills and qualifications
- Senior-level proficiency administering enterprise Oracle databases and open-source or managed database platforms.
- Extensive hands-on experience with clustering, replication topologies, and high-availability design.
- Proven ability to execute backup and restore procedures, recovery testing, and disaster recovery.
- Deep expertise in performance tuning, troubleshooting, and index and query optimization.
- Strong background in database security implementation, automation scripting, and process documentation.
