Java Cloud Lead

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java applications and services aligned with Azure architecture.
• Build scalable APIs and backend components focused on performance, resilience, and maintainability.
• Support cloud migration and modernization across Azure and other cloud environments.
• Apply cloud design patterns and meet availability and scalability goals.
• Implement automated testing, code reviews, and CI/CD practices.
• Partner with security and platform teams on secure coding, secrets management, and cloud security controls.
• Monitor and optimize production applications, investigate root causes, and implement preventive fixes.
• Refine requirements, estimate effort, and deliver iteratively with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote standards, documentation, and reusable components.

Minimum qualifications

• 5–9 years of software development experience with strong hands-on Java expertise.
• Hands-on experience building and deploying solutions on Microsoft Azure.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, computer science, or IT; a master’s degree is also listed.
• Strong understanding of RESTful services, object-oriented design, and backend development practices.
• Experience with source control, build tools, CI/CD fundamentals, and production troubleshooting.

Preferred qualifications and skills

• AWS and/or GCP experience supporting multicloud or hybrid deployments is preferred.
• Spring Boot, microservices, Hibernate/JPA, and API gateway patterns are listed as preferred experience.
• Containerization and orchestration exposure includes Docker, Kubernetes, AKS, EKS, and GKE.
• Messaging and distributed-systems examples include Kafka, Azure Service Bus, and Event Hubs.
• Observability, logging, metrics, tracing, and cloud performance tuning are preferred.
• Good-to-have skills include Terraform.
