Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site IT/OT Integration Engineer role based in Austin, TX.
The IT/OT Integration Engineer will design, implement, and maintain integrations between industrial control systems (such as DCS, PLC, and SCADA) and enterprise IT systems, ensuring secure, reliable, and real-time data flow.
Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing existing architectures, developing integration solutions, configuring and testing interfaces, and troubleshooting communication issues across networks and control environments.
The role will collaborate closely with operations, engineering, and IT security teams to align industrial automation needs with corporate IT standards and cybersecurity requirements.
The engineer will also support commissioning activities, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and maintain compliance with relevant industry standards.
Required Qualifications
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience in IT/OT systems, industrial software platforms, historian systems, automation data infrastructure, or software deployment roles.
- Strong practical experience with Windows Server administration (installation, services, event logs, network configuration).
- Solid working knowledge of Linux — comfortable in the command line, managing services, reviewing logs, and handling file systems.
- Experience in Software Development and scripting (e.g., Python, C#, or similar) for integration, automation, and custom interface solutions.
- Hands-on integration experience with industrial protocols (e.g., OPC, Modbus, Ethernet/IP) and connectivity between OT and IT systems.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Docker Compose — able to deploy, configure, and troubleshoot containerized applications independently.
- Working knowledge of SQL and basic database concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot software systems using logs, service status, network tools, firewall rules, and SSL/certificate diagnostics.
- Familiarity with OT environments — SCADA, HMI, DCS, or industrial historian platforms (OSIsoft PI, Wonderware, Ignition, or similar).
- Strong communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.
- Able
- to produce clear technical documentation and reports.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with industrial communication protocols: OPC UA, OPC DA, MQTT, Modbus TCP/RTU.
- Exposure to time-series databases or industrial data historian platforms.
- Experience working with or deploying AI/ML-adjacent data platforms.
- Knowledge of network infrastructure relevant to OT environments (VLANs, firewalls, DMZ architecture).
