Hands-on IT leadership role owning the IT function, leading a small team, and improving secure and user-friendly systems.
The position calls for 5–8 years of IT experience and initiative in automation and operational improvements.
IT operations and automation
- Own day-to-day IT support as senior escalation point; run Windows/macOS endpoints, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, networking, and office A/V.
- Manage user lifecycle and hardware procurement through retirement; monitor system health and uptime.
- Automate provisioning, password resets, ticket routing, and self-service knowledge resources using scripting and AI tools.
Security, projects, and leadership
- Maintain endpoint protection, MFA, conditional access, patching, and awareness training; own and regularly test backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
- Run security reviews, fix findings, and coordinate with external security partners.
- Lead SaaS rollouts, migrations, network upgrades, and integrations with Engineering, Product, Sales, and Operations.
- Own IT policies, budgets, vendors, and licensing; lead and mentor the IT team member.
First six months
- Become the trusted go-to person for IT and learn the team and systems.
- Deliver at least one automation that saves the team time each week.
- Test the disaster recovery plan end to end and close identified gaps.
- Set an IT roadmap balancing security, cost, and employee experience.
Must-have qualifications
- 5 to 8 years of experience in IT systems administration, IT operations, or a related technical role.
- Experience mentoring, leading, or coordinating IT staff.
- Strong hands-on Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and Entra ID/Azure AD.
- Proficiency in PowerShell, Python, or Bash and a track record automating IT workflows.
- Experience with Intune, Jamf, or similar endpoint management tools.
- Solid knowledge of DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewall configuration, and TCP/IP.
Nice-to-have qualifications
- Disaster recovery and backup design and testing; familiarity with CIS Benchmarks, NIST, or ISO 27001.
- AI tools for IT operations, cloud certifications, ITIL or other IT service management, SaaS integrations, and SSO/SCIM provisioning.
- Startup or scale-up experience; diploma or degree in IT, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
